Mostly Theatre Company - Mission Statement
The Mostly Theatre Company was founded in 1955 as the Imperial Valley Players, to bring the magic of live theatre to the community. MTC provides a forum for those who wish to be involved with theatre from all over the Imperial Valley. MTC is dedicated to providing theatre education to all interested children and adults.
Mostly Theatre Company - Background
MTC is a Not For Profit, Community Theatre Company. "Community Theatre" refers to a non-profit theatre company that serves a specific locality, relies heavily on a volunteer base, and does not use Equity (union) actors on a regular basis. Community theatres tend to be operated for local recreation, education and commonly seek to obtain the patronage and production participation of the community as a whole.
Through our "Summer Arts Camp" (SAC) program, MTC, with private sponsorships and a partnership agreement with the City of El Centro, inspires children and teens to expand their horizons and helps them achieve their dreams through classes in visual and performing arts and the staging of live performances. MTC is much, much more than acting.. The lessons learned from participating in live theatre last a lifetime. From the teamworking skills of being a part of a cast to the discipline skills of mastering lines and the self-esteem garnered from performing on stage. It's a proven fact that participation in the visual and performing arts, helps build vital critical thinking skills in individuals.
MTC makes a difference in the lives of adults and children throughout our Valley
Everyone associated with MTC is a volunteer. No production could go forward without their tireless efforts. MTC has performed in cafes, auditoriums, churches, high schools, halls, The Southwest Theatre and the Old Post Office Pavillion. We are funded through sponsorships, fundraisers and ticket sales. MTC is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors(see our Board page for current board info)
All who are inspired by our theatre - onstage, backstage, or as part of the audience, leave with an enthusiasm to be a success on whatever stage they choose to perform
